Movement Ties

Ties

Movement Ties and Rigid Anchors are designed to restrain masonry against lateral wind loads while accommodating controlled movement within the structure. The sleeve mechanism allows for expansion and contraction of masonry due to temperature changes, moisture variation, and structural movement, without compromising stability.

These systems ensure a balance between restraint and flexibility, helping to prevent cracking and damage in masonry assemblies.

Function

  • Restrains masonry against lateral wind loads

  • Allows controlled movement of masonry (expansion and contraction)

  • Reduces risk of cracking due to thermal and structural movement

  • Maintains long-term stability of wall systems

Materials

Sheet

  • Mild Steel to ASTM A1008

  • Hot Dip Galvanized after fabrication to ASTM A153 / BS EN 1461

  • Pre-Galvanized Steel to ASTM A653 / BS EN 10346 (replaces BS EN 10327)

  • Stainless Steel to ASTM A240 / ASTM A666 / BS EN 10088

Product Type: Movement Ties

Movement ties incorporate a sleeve mechanism that allows controlled sliding movement while maintaining lateral restraint. This ensures the masonry remains stable under wind loads while accommodating natural building movement.
