Partition Top Anchor - Rod

Anchors

Partition Top Anchors are designed to provide lateral shear resistance at the upper termination of masonry partition walls. They allow controlled vertical movement of the structural slab above without transferring compressive loads to the masonry below, thereby preventing cracking and maintaining wall integrity.

These anchors are widely used in non-load-bearing and partition wall systems where slab deflection and building movement must be accommodated safely.

Function

  • Provides lateral shear resistance at the top of masonry partitions

  • Allows vertical deflection of slab without load transfer to masonry

  • Accommodates thermal expansion and structural movement

  • Reduces risk of cracking at wall head joints

  • Ensures stable yet flexible wall-to-structure connection

Partition Top Anchor (Rod Type)

The PTA-R system is a rod-type partition top anchor designed for secure fixing to concrete or steel structures. It incorporates a sliding and isolation mechanism that allows vertical movement while maintaining lateral stability.

A neoprene sponge or compressible filler is placed between the structure and masonry to allow expansion and contraction. Additionally, clear butyrate tubes with compressible polyethylene filler isolate the rod from surrounding mortar, enabling smooth vertical sliding movement.
