Underground Detectable Warning Tape

Detectable Warning Tape

Underground warning tape is a colored, non-adhesive film designed to provide a visual alert for buried utilities.

It is manufactured from multiple layers of polyester, aluminum, and low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and is printed with warning messages indicating the presence of underground services such as electrical cables, communication and fiber optic cables, gas pipelines, and water pipelines.

The tape is typically installed directly above the buried service line at a specified depth, ensuring that excavators are alerted to the presence of utilities before digging.

In addition to visual identification, the aluminum layer allows the tape to be detectable by metal detectors. However, it is important to note that the warning tape does not provide any physical protection to the buried cables or pipelines; its purpose is solely to serve as a cautionary marker.
